Well, we have all heard it before. You need lots of incoming links to your site in order to enhance your popularity with the major search engine. But how do we get other webmasters to consider linking to us. The answer is really quite straight forward,
"You Ask Them".

Many webmasters have the dubious task of getting their clients websites indexed and ranked on the major search engines. So just like you and I they too are searching for quality sites to exchange links with.

When exchanging links I have found that it is very important to seek out partners in the same or related niche as your site. It's all about relevancy. The more relevant the sites you link with are to your site, the more favorable your placement in the search engines. Also you want your anchor text (keyword phrase) to be one that you wish to rank well for within the search engines. So for example, it may be far more beneficial to use your main keyword phrase as the anchor text in your link then to use your website name.

One of the best link exchange services that I have found offers a totally free version that is fully functional. Although an automated monthly paid upgrade is available you may find it is not needed.
